1. Operation Principle
The Thermostatic Wax that has been sealed in shell body induces expansion by a given temperature, and inner rubber seal part drives its handspike to move under expansion pressure to realize a transition from thermal energy into mechanical energy. The Thermostatic Wax brings an upward movement to its handspike, and automatic control of various function are realized by use of upward movement of handspike. The return of handspike is accomplished by negative load in a given returned temperature.

3.Main Technical Parameters
(1)Handspike’s height may be confirmed by drawing and technical parameters
(2)Handspike movement is relatives to the temperature range of the element, and the effective distance range is from 1.5mm to 20 mm.
(3)Temperature control range of thermal wax actuator is between –20 ~ 230℃.
(4)Lag phenomenon is generally 1 ~ 2℃. Friction of each component part and lag of the component part temperature cause a lag phenomenon. Because there is a difference between up and down curve of traveling distance.
(5)Loading force of thermal wax actuator is difference, it depends on its’ shell size.

You may be surprised to see what Kent found was the cause of the starting problem he was having on his 1990 190E 2.6. The car would start and then quit. Or it would start and round weak and rough for a minute before coming to live. It would also idle too low during cold startup. The problem turned out to be a simple and inexpensive fix. This would apply to the 190E, 300E, 300CE, 300TE and other gasoline engined Mercedes during that same period such as 126 chassis 380SE/L 500SE/L 420SE/L 300SE/L 560SE/L 380SEC 560SEC 1981-1991, 201 Chassis 190E 1984 to 1993 and 124 Chassis 260E 300E 300TE 300CE E320 and E300D 1986 to 1995.
This one goes out to BowlingBallOut who posted a question about a sticky throttle on his Saturn. It was a great question so I decided to make this video in response to it. There are many different configurations of throttle assemblies but for the most part if you have a throttle that is sticking you might be able to fix it using the procedures in this video. I am aware you may not able to purchase spray throttle cleaner in some states now but I’m sure they have some alternative available at your local parts store.
One very important note here is that if you have a drive by wire throttle (DBW), then I do NOT recommend this procedure. If you perform this procedure on a DBW throttle body you may need to have the throttle reset in order to get your engine to idle or even start. I only recommend this procedure if you’re trying to correct a problem with a sticking throttle.
