Solid state relay controlled by Arduino



This video shows you how to control AC devices from your Arduino, using a solid state relay board.

I’m using an e-Gizmo AC SSR (solid state relay) board which uses the BT136B. It can be controller from an Arduino, as shown in the video.

The board costs just 235 peso ($5) and comes ready made from e-gizmo, manila, Philippines. You just need to wire in your AC plug and either wire your load directly or wire in a socket like I did. I will mount this inside an enclosure so there’s no danger of someone touching the high voltage.

A solid state relay can switch much faster than a mechanical relay although that doesn’t mean you can do standard PWM like you would with a DC LED for example.
