During a client install of several concrete duct banks under existing highways an installation error caused damage to the PVC power cable conduit. The damage consisted of large perforations in the conduit and partial engulfment of the PVC conduit with wet concrete. During attempts by other contractors to remedy the situation, the PVC conduit was destroyed in many areas. Thermal conductivity specifications required tight tolerances for the repair.
EA Services, Inc./ Pipelining USA designed and fabricated a proprietary, rotational grouting robotic apparatus to build new smooth pipe walls where the existing ones had been destroyed.
EA Services Inc. robotically lined the entire conduit with StructrLine FS to provide structural support, to compensate for thermal tolerances, and to decrease friction for the installation of the 7″ solid copper cable.
Due to EA Services, Inc. / Pipelining USA’s rapid innovation and production of the rotational grouting apparatus, as well as our StructrLine FS material, the damaged sections were successfully rebuilt and all perforations were closed.
