This video outlines the unique design advantages of the Kinetrol rotary vane actuator, and its components, over “piston” type actuators (rack and pinion and scotch yoke mechanisms).
Kinetrol vane actuators have only one moving part – the vane itself. Other types of actuators have complicated gears and levers that are subject to friction and wear over time. The result is long, trouble free life for Kinetrol vane actuators.
Kinetrol actuators utilize sealed spring units, whose internal spring mechanisms do not come in contact with poor quality plant air or ambient corrosive gases. Piston type actuator springs, by their design, are bathed in questionable quality plant air, or “breathe” ambient air and whatever other gases surround the actuator.
Kinetrol actuators, and their modularized component design, reduce the installed footprint of an actuated, spring-return system with positioner and / or indicator. Smaller actuator package footprints save space and save money.
Finally, Kinetrol vane actuators consume less plant air than similarly sized piston type actuators, thus reducing energy consumption, thus saving money.
