How to Clean Carburetors (Seca Project Part 2)

A guide on how to clean a set of carburetors. While I used my Seca 750 project as an example, the process is the same for all carbs regardless of there type. The basic principal of remove everything, clean, and blow out passages with air applies to cars, trucks, lawnmowers, chainsaws, everything.

A side note: Many carbs have mixture screws on the sides of the carburetor bodies. These too should be removed when cleaning to blow air through the passages behind them. When reinstalling them you will have to consult the service manual for your engine on the base setting when reinstalling them. This is usually given in number of turn out. For example a manual may specify 1 1/2 turns out. You would thread in the screw until it lightly bottoms, then turn the screw out 1.5 revolutions. This will be a sufficient setting to get your engine running and warm when you can proceed to the final adjustment. Again, consult your manual.
