This video shows where the actuators are inside a 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette. It does not go through the process of replacing them. There are generally two actuators but if your vehicle has dual climate controls, then there are three that control different functions.
1. Hot/Cold Driver’s Side
2. Hot/Cold Passenger’s Side
3. Mode Control (face, feet, dash)
The actuator locations should be similar in Chevy Uplanders and Pontiac Montanas from around the same year.
Hopefully, if you are having problems with one of them, it is the passenger hot/cold one because it is by far the easiest to replace. The other two on the driver’s side aren’t impossible to replace, but they won’t be real easy. To have them professionally replaced would probably cost between $200-$500 depending on which one is bad.
Before you try to replace one, you want to be sure that it truly is bad. Look at the round silver part and switch the hot/cold or mode and see if it turns. If it does turn, then that actuator is probably fine and you should check the next one.
