The XACT BioReactors are large robust rotating drums with fixed ends that converts huge volumes of solid organic waste into compost in as little as 4 to 7 days. The XACT vessel is available in 5 to 10 diameters and in lengths from 12 to 120. It is engineered and built for continuous long-term use.
Engineering
§ Carbon Steel Walls (up to 5/8 thick)
§ Solid Steel Wheels
§ Heavy Duty Mounting Frames
§ Wear Bars for durability
§ Interior Liner Rings
§ Heavy Duty Chain Drive (Largest units: gear and pinion)
§ Negative Ventilation System for process and odor control
§ Foam Insulation for 24/7/365 temperature control
§ Automatic Discharge Door
The BioReactor rotates continuously at about 5 to 10 rph, and is driven by a variable speed drive unit using a surprisingly low hp motor. The size of motor depends on the size of the vessel but ranges from 5 to 40 hp. The XACT System BioReactor is designed to be a long-term solution, and although it is a simple design, it is built to heavy-duty standards in order to withstand the rigors of turning tons and tons of material 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
For example, a 10 x 80 long BioReactor is turning 85 tons of waste up to 240 times per day!
There are no temperamental interior plungers , fins or paddles. The organic material simply moves along the sloped vessel as it rotates due to gravity.
• Automated, continuous process
• Air, moisture, temperature controlled
• Requires No Supplementary Heat
• Offers Tremendous Throughput
• Saves Labor
• Requires Minimal Land
Site Layout
This 3-vessel system shows a feed stock prep building with a grinder and a mixer, and a 5-bay compost storage building. In addition, there is a biofilter installed in the ground along the length of the lower drum which is cleaning the air that is being drawn off by the exhaust system of the vessels. One of the great advantages of the XACT BioReactor is that as your operation needs increase additional drums can be added easily increasing your capacity with no down time. This is just one of the many possible layouts that could be designed for you!
Auxiliary Equipment Available
• Mixers for blending
• Grinders for particle size reduction
• Infeed and outfeed screw conveyors
• Hoppers
• Distribution conveyor with automatic spreader
Weather Concerns are Eliminated
Weather concerns such as precipitation, temperature, humidity and wind chill are no longer factors affecting the process or rate of composting or the performance of the BioReactor. For periods of extreme weather conditions, an optional heater is available.
