In this video, I have a 98 chevy pickup with a coolant temp gauge that started to read lower then normal. The problem that a lot of folks run into is that there are two temperature sensors in this engine. This also applies to the same era tahoes and suburbans with the 5.7 liter engine.
I test the temp gauge itself to rule out the gauge as being the problem. If the gauge itself has an internal problem that won’t let it go past 1/4 of the way up, then replacing the sensor would be a waste of time and money. In a future video I will replace the sensor and we’ll see if it’s fixed.
Thanks for watching and if you have one of these trucks be sure to subscribe for more!
