1. Operation Principle

The Thermostatic Wax that has been sealed in shell body induces expansion by a given temperature, and inner rubber seal part drives its handspike to move under expansion pressure to realize a transition from thermal energy into mechanical energy. The Thermostatic Wax brings an upward movement to its handspike, and automatic control of various function are realized by use of upward movement of handspike. The return of handspike is accomplished by negative load in a given returned temperature.

If you build a pivoting stand, buy a tracking circuit board, and an actuator this solar furnace will double the temperature of the air going into it for approximately seven hours a day during the winter, at about 300-400cfm which would probably knock about 25-30% off of your heating bill. The oven mounted stationary only performs really well for about 2 hours a day when the sun is pretty much directly in front of it. If your planning on building one, build a swiveling stand with it, and spend the $250-$300 for a tracking board and actuator to make it worth while.
