Shown here in operation, Invensas’ MEMS AF actuator offers significant benefits in terms of low operating temperature and power consumption, which improves image quality and battery life. Another benefit of MEMS technology is that it generates less heat than mechanical approaches. With regards to auto focus (AF), less heat means better image quality because sensor noise doubles for every 6 degree increase in temperature and the lens corner image quality (MTF) drops 5-10% every 10 degrees.
