1. Operation Principle
The Thermostatic Wax that has been sealed in shell body induces expansion by a given temperature, and inner rubber seal part drives its handspike to move under expansion pressure to realize a transition from thermal energy into mechanical energy. This is a little project I did, just because I can, that opens and closes a vent damper on my return air duct on my furnace. The damper is in the finished part of the basement in the dropped ceiling. There is a temperature sensor, an Ethernet Shield, and an Arduino Mega all got from Spark Fun. A little bit of coding magic and some hacking together of a way to hook it to the damper and voilà. Anyway, it was a pretty cool project for my first serious trek into the world of microcontrollers and I wanted to share it on facebook so I posted this.
