1. Operation Principle
The Thermostatic Wax that has been sealed in shell body induces expansion by a given temperature, and inner rubber seal part drives its handspike to move under expansion pressure to realize a transition from thermal energy into mechanical energy. The Thermostatic Wax brings an upward movement to its handspike, and automatic control of various function are realized by use of upward movement of handspike. The return of handspike is accomplished by negative load in a given returned temperature.

This video explains about the working of a waste gate turbo charger. The function of the waste gate valve and when it gets opened up is explained here.
As you all know the turbocharger is used to increase the power output and reduce emission level and to improve the efficiency of a diesel engine. Waster gate turbocharger consists of a turbine which takes the hot pressure exhaust gas and turns this energy to power a compressor which compresses the atmospheric air and supplied to the inlet manifold. So as you know air is one of the major components which causes ignition in diesel engine. By this process we are providing more air into the combustion chamber there by the engine becomes capable of burning more fuel or the percentage of incomplete combustion can be greatly reduced thus increasing efficiency.
Now let’s see when the waste gate valve comes into picture.
Here you can see that the compressed air creates a higher pressure and if this pressure exceeds above the recommended level this can create excessive load on the engine. So to avoid this waste gate valve is used.
How a waste gate valve works?
Waste gate valve is installed in the exhaust circuit before the turbine. If the compressed air pressure exceeds the recommended pressure at the compressor outlet port. This will activate the swing valve control there by opening up the waste gate valve as explained in the video and the excessive pressure is released to the atmosphere to avoid the chance of over loading the engine.
