The variation of ambient temperature takes a pressure and the thermostatic element takes a change, and this change brings the movement of either the appurtenance of the thermodynamic component or itself, thereby carrying out the automatic opening & closing function. All sorts of temperature controllers and the electrical switches are developed depending on the physical feature of Automatic Temperature Regulating Agent. Due to the ever increasing fight for high efficiency and fuel economy, automobile manufacturers, especially in Europe, have developed the clutch-less AC compressor. Sanden being one of those compressor manufacturers, has develop the PXE series variable displacement AC compressor, which we’ll use as a study example for this technology. On standard compressors, the belt turns a pulley with an electric clutch. When you turn on the AC, the clutch engages, and the piston starts pumping to compress the refrigerant. There are two problems with this traditional approach. One, a compressor needs a fair amount of power. In cars with small engines, the engagement of the clutch to activate the compressor puts a big load on the engine, especially if it is idling. Two, the compressor will produce low flow or not enough when the engine is idling, and high flow when the engine is at high RPM and possibly too much refrigerant flow.
