I need a waterproof IR sensor for cheap, for a deep water tank and easy to be installed. I could not find any except some piezo pressure sensors, IR reflective sensors or ultrasonic sensors (which does not last very long due to corrosion) . Some existing IR sensors that I can put poxy on it to make it water proof. However, the working distance and minimum working range does not meet my requriements. I came to a conclusion to make one. I may or may not need to control one or more water pump/ valve. The water temperature is also necessary to be monitored and I have picked up a linear NTC thermistor from ebay. (part number is also available on digikey)
